The FMT Kinesiology Taping Principles: Science meets Practice course equips learners with advanced functional taping methods designed to enhance movement and performance for patients and clients. This comprehensive program integrates a review of current literature, emphasizing contemporary theories and evidence-based practices that inform the application of kinesiology taping techniques. Participants will explore how these methods can significantly improve rehabilitation and performance outcomes across various clinical settings.
The curriculum includes in-depth chapters on mechanical effects, neurosensory influences, and the practical application of taping techniques for pain management, edema control, and proprioceptive guidance. Special attention is given to innovative concepts such as Directional Glide and Strain Resistant Taping, broadening the scope of traditional taping methods.
FMT Kinesiology Taping Principles adopts an evidence-informed approach, advancing participants' understanding of elastic therapeutic taping as a dynamic intervention for a wide range of conditions, from pain alleviation to enhancing fluid dynamics and proprioception. This course emphasizes a paradigm shift from an outdated model fixated on muscle activation and inhibition to a contemporary framework that prioritizes "taping movement, not muscles."
Note: Tools are not provided with this course.
1. Define and discuss the physiological effects of kinesiology taping
2. Demonstrate and apply functional taping techniques as they apply to pain, edema management, and posture improvement.
3. Demonstrate and discuss the new concepts of skin strain lines as they pertain to taping applications to help reduce adverse skin reactions.
4. Define and demonstrate the concept of directional vector and strain resistant taping
5. Understand and demonstrate techniques focused on ‘directional vector’ and ‘strain resistant taping’.
This course is 6 hours in length and a 30 question multiple choice quiz will be required after completing the course to receive your CEU certificate. A 70% test score is required to pass and receive CEUs. The quiz can be open book and unlimited attempts on the quiz are allowed.
