Mix & Match: FMT RockPods and FMT Basic Webcast

Description

You asked, and we listened! We’ve fused two nonconventional courses together, so that you can expand your knowledge on different techniques within one weekend. First Stop on the NEW Mix and Match series? A new weekend course where we will combine basic myofascial cupping with basic kinesiology taping. These two musculoskeletal interventions pair well together to help people move better, longer!

Day 1 - FMT RockPods

FMT RockPods explores the science of tissue gliding, traction and decompression with easy to use myofascial cups. RockPods are one of the latest additions to the RockTape tool arsenal to better equip each clinician and therapist to deliver superior patient and client outcomes. FMT RockPods Certifications are intended for health and fitness professionals. CEUs may be offered for DC, ATC, PT, LMTs, LAc, OT and personal trainers – depending on location and class type.

FMT RockPods Certification introduces the concept of skin/fascial decompression to help improve tissue mobility, improve movement and modulate pain* with myofascial cupping. This course will cover the anatomy, physiology and neurology of the effects of myofascial cupping on connective tissue gliding, tissue traction and tissue decompression. FMT RockPods Certification will explore skin and fascial decompression with myofascial cups by evaluating the dermal and fascial systems. Interventions with cupping (RockPods) will be reviewed based on the literature and integrated into current rehabilitative concepts.

This 6-hour certification course is intended for practitioners and therapists with a basic understanding of soft tissue techniques. All supplies needed for the course are provided. There are no prerequisites for FMT RockPods.

Day 2 - FMT Basic

FMT Basic introduces the evidence based approach to taping for pain*, enhancing fluid dynamics, posture, nerve entrapment and scars. FMT Basic is an evidence-informed kinesiology taping course that redefines our understanding of the effects of elastic therapeutic taping on pain* mitigation, circulation and proprioception. FMT Basic lays the groundwork for a practical framework of ‘taping movement, not muscles’ to replace an outdated model focused on directional taping to activate or inhibit muscles.

This 6-hour certification course is intended for practitioners and therapists with all levels of experience with taping. All supplies needed for the course are provided. There are no prerequisites for FMT Basic.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the course, attendees will be able to:

Day 1 - FMT RockPods

1. Define and discuss the physiological effects of kinesiology taping on the body.

2. Demonstrate, via application, functional taping techniques that are specifically designed to influence discomfort*, edema, neurologic conditions, scar and posture.

3. Demonstrate and discuss how the fascial system functions, and how kinesiology tape interfaces with the mechanical, chemical and neurosensory sub-systems of fascia.

4. Understand and differentiate fluid dynamics taping applications for acute edema and chronic fluid dysfunction conditions using the jellyfish taping method.

5. Discover and experiment with various tape application techniques for common musculo-skeletal injury conditions such as low back discomfort*, shoulder strains, ankle sprains and post-operative patient/client          care.

6. Demonstrate and apply posture taping applications for correction of common chronic postural deficits of the upper and lower spine regions.

7. Discuss and interpret kinesiology taping techniques for neurologic entrapment syndromes and scar tissue management.

Day 2 - FMT Basic

1. Define, understand and integrate the myofascial sequencing model

2. Discover and explore neuroanatomy of the dermal and fascial subsystems

3. Recognize and demonstrate a novel skin/fascial/movement screening process

4. Describe and interpret research as it relates to connective tissue gliding, pain modulation, and movement therapies

5. Define, practice, and combine myofascial cupping techniques related to a variety of soft tissue pathologies

6. Practice cupping techniques for tension/decompression effects, directional influence of dermal and fascial subsystems, external cueing of movement and graded levels of pressure

7. Compare, contrast and perform various methods of performance and rehabilitative treatment techniques with silicone myofascial cups
